Why DRI?

The Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) was launched in 2016 to accelerate and expand the revitalization of downtowns so that they serve as centers of activity and catalysts for increased local investments. The purpose of the program is to provide funding for a mix of public and private projects that helps transform downtown neighborhoods into vibrant centers that offer a high quality of life and become magnets for redevelopment, business growth, job creation and economic and housing diversity.

The DRI is led by the NYS Department of State. Communities receive support from private sector experts and a team of state agency staff led by the Department of State in close partnership with Empire State Development, and NYS Homes and Community Renewal.

Learn more about the DRI program and the DRI communities from previous years by visiting the NYS DRI webpage.

Globally Significant,

Regionally Exceptional

The Town of Plattsburgh is located in the northeastern part of New York State, nestled between the great Adirondack Park and picturesque Lake Champlain. Situated along the main transportation routes between New York City and Montreal, Plattsburgh is the closest large American municipality to the second largest Canadian City. This connection has allowed our manufacturing industry to thrive, and become the economic engine of the North Country.
